Martha Lorene Igert

Martha Lorene Rowan Igert, 75, of Fort Gibson, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012, in Tulsa, OK. Martha was born to W.B. and Lillie Green Rowan on March 4, 1937, in the Georgetown area of Fort Gibson. Martha attended Georgetown Schools through 8th grade. She graduated from Fort Gibson High School in 1955. Martha worked at Griffin's Grocery Company and several nursing homes as a med-aide. Martha married Bob Igert on March 25, 1957, establishing their home and raising their family in Fort Gibson, later moving to Broken Arrow. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Broken Arrow during this time, where she still has many friends. In 1983 her family returned to reestablish their home in Fort Gibson, where she is a member of First Baptist Church. She leaves behind: son, Bobby Kevin Igert of Fort Gibson; daughter, Anita LaDawn Ford of Muskogee; one grandson, Ian Anthony Holder and one granddaughter, Sarah Ellen Holder. She is survived by her brother Don Rowan and wife Barbara of Fort Gibson; sisters, Ethel Walters of Fort Gibson, and Ruby Rowan Wooten of Sand Springs; sisters-in-law Ruby Nutt Rowan of Fort Gibson, and Anna Lois Kirby Rowan Oxley of Norman and Theda Igert Rowan of Fort Gibson; a multitude of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, parents and brothers, Lloyd Dale, Raymond Rowan, John Rowan , Jesse Rowan, Kenneth Rowan, Carl Rowan and Jim Rowan. The joys in her life were her family, especially her grandchildren, reading and doing her daily crossword puzzle. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Fort Gibson, 11:00 A.M., July 18, 2012. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
