About Martha Babb
Mayfield, Ky - Martha Dean Babb, 89, of Mayfield died Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Baptist Health Paducah. Mrs. Babb served as a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, served on the Mayfield City Council as the first woman to have a seat, worked as a tourism guide for the Chamber of Commerce, was instrumental in helping start the Main Street Museum of Mayfield, and was on the Mayfield Library Board. She is survived by one son, Charlie Babb of Mayfield; one daughter, Pam Reid of Mayfield; one sister, Bettye Peterson of Chicago; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Babb, and three sisters. Her parents were Jiles Elbert and Berti Mae Pentecost. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield with Dr. Wes Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Mayfield Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at the funeral home. The Paducah Sun Paducah, Ky Monday, July 6, 2015
