Marita Dell Saathoff

Services for Marita Dell Saathoff, of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Litchfield Southern Baptist Church with Mike Bates, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Plummer Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Litchfield Southern Baptist Church. Miss Saathoff died at 9:15 p.m. Monday, July 5, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 61 years old on March 15. She was employed as a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital for 31 years before retiring in 1994 because of ill health. She received nurse's training at the Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1959. She was a 1956 graduate of Litchfield High School. She was a member of Litchfield Southern Baptist Church and served as the church secretary and pianist. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Harry George and Matilda Mae Bruce Saathoff. She never married. Surviving are sisters, Dolores J. Butts and Mary Dycus, both of Litchfield, Paula Perrine of Girard; half sister, Dorothy Saathoff of Litchfield; half brother, David Saathoff of Litchfield; three nieces and nephew, including Phyllis Jenkins of Carlinville; a great niece and four great nephews. Services for Marita Dell Saathoff, of Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Litchfield Southern Baptist Church. Pastor Mike Bates officiated. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Phyllis Lively was the organist and accompanied the congregation while they sang "Face to Face," "When the Morning Comes" and "I Stand Amazed in His Presence." Pallbearers were Harold Ellinger, Boyd Lively, John Riemann, all of Litchfield, Nelson Hundley of Tovey, Rick Jenkins of Carlinville, Wally Stepp of Litchfield. Following the services a luncheon was provided for the family and friends by the women of the church. Plummer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Miss Saathoff, 61, died Monday, July 5, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital.
