About Marion Ulfers
From the Duffy-Pils website: Marion Ramsey Ulfers passed away peacefully, September 24, 2016 in Atlanta, GA. A daughter of Elmer B. and Aldine Hanna Ramsey, she was born in Fairbury, IL in 1920. She graduated from Stephens College and attended the University of Illinois. She married John W. Ulfers, son of Gus and Emma Hanson Ulfers, in a garden wedding at her parents’ home on East Maple Street in 1942. She is predeceased by her husband and brother, E. Blaine Ramsey, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Ulfers Campbell (Ian) and two grandsons Ian H. Campbell, Jr. (Allyson), their two children, Catherine and Wills Campbell, and son Colin Ramsey Campbell (Jamie), their three children Jameson, Cole and Adi Grace Campbell. Marion Ulfers was a direct descendant of William and Sarah Dever McDowell, pioneers of Avoca Township. William McDowell, a veteran of the War of 1812, was the son of James McDowell, a Revolutionary War patriot serving during the Battle of Brandywine and encamped at Valley Forge. Marion Ulfers was an active member of several hereditary lineage societies: James Edward Oglethorpe Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Colonists; Martha Stewart Bulloch Chapter, NSDAR; General John Clarke Chapter, United States Daughters of 1812. There will be a graveside service at Graceland Cemetery, Monday, October 24 at 2:30 pm. Memorials may be made to the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, 371 East Jericho Turnpike, Smithtown, NY 11787. For 70 years, the Guide Dog Foundation has provided guide and service dogs, free of charge, to people who are blind, visually impaired or disabled. Contributor: brian penicook
