Marion A Andrews

STRATHAM - Marion A. Andrews, 80, of Stratham, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Shaffer and her husband, Howard, of Andover, Mass., Kathie Ebert and her husband, Dietrich, of North Hampton, and Dianne Valentine of Rye; six grandchildren, David and Paige Shaffer of Boston, Dieter Ebert and his wife, Rachel (Lupoli), of Stratham, Renata Ebert of San Diego, Calif., Ellie Valentine of Monkton, Vt., Kyle Valentine of Ann Arbor, Mich.; great-granddaughter Alexa Marion Ebert of Stratham; two sisters, Phyllis Rother of Leavittown, N.Y., and Pam Lariviere of Portsmouth; and two brothers, Chuck St. Lawrence of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Greg St. Lawrence of Portsmouth. Her husband of 43 years, Ted Andrews, died in 1989. Her companion of 15 years, Tony Bower, died in 2008. She also was predeceased by her sister, Janet Willis Lilly. WE REMEMBER: Marion was born May 23, 1929, in Lowell, Mass., the second of six children of the late Horace and Doris (Phelps) St. Lawrence. The family moved to Portsmouth when she was 13 years old. She graduated from Portsmouth High School with the Class of 1946. She married Theodore B. Andrews that same year. They had three daughters, and moved to North Hampton in 1952. They spent many happy times at their camp on Ossipee Lake. Marion worked for New England Telephone Company, several area upholsterers, and later in life she worked as a legal title abstractor and assisted with town elections. She was a marine docent volunteer, an avid gardener, voracious reader, knitter, and the chosen family baby-sitter. Marion lived a good life, raised three wonderful daughters, adored her grandchildren and very proud of their accomplishments, each and every one of them. Her family considers themselves fortunate to have had her in their lives. SERVICES: A celebration of her life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, May 21, at Sandy Point Discovery Center, Greenland; www.greatbay.org. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
