Marilyn Jo Good

DENNIS — Marilyn "Jo" Good, 90, of Dennis died at 9:35 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2024. She was born July 14, 1933, at Parsons, a daughter of John Lowell and Irene Lucille (Wright) Scott. She was raised at Dennis and attended the Sylvandale school. She graduated from Dennis High School with the Class of 1949 at age 16.  She married Donald Paul Good on Dec. 31, 1949. She began working at the Lee sewing factory in Cherryvale and was later employed at the Hallmark Card company. Mr. Good served in the U.S. Navy and the couple lived in Norfolk, Virginia, and Gulf Port, Mississippi, while he was stationed in each location. Following his discharge in 1956, they returned to Parsons and relocated to Dennis in 1966. She was employed at Commercial Bank for many years, eventually working in customer service and was an assistant vice president. She retired in 1995. Mr. Good preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 2020. She was a member of the Dennis United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included sewing and crocheting. She began quilting in her retirement and made many quilts. She spent much of her time after retirement enjoying time with all of the grandchildren, whether at home or at Grand Lake.   Survivors include a son, Craig Good (one of triplets) and his wife, Lisa, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two daughters, Pamela Larson of  Grove, Oklahoma, Connie Baker (one of triplets) and her husband, Bruce, of Dennis; seven grandchildren, Brett Larson, Kaitlyn Epperson and her husband, Chase, Joshua Kennedy, Bryce Baker and his wife, Sara, Hannah Baker, Olivia Good and Jillian Good; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and sister- in-law, Larry and Margaret Scott of Dennis; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Joe Kephart of rural Thayer; and a sister-in-law, Mary Scott (wife of her deceased brother, John) of Ulysses. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Kennedy (one of triplets); two brothers, John E. and Jim Scott; and three sisters, Virginia Wisner, Judy Scott and Geraldine O'Leary.  The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Pastor Pat McReynolds officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
