Marilyn Patricia Franciose

Marilyn Patricia (Kane) Franciose, age 83, of South Dennis, and formerly a longtime resident of Framingham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 due to complications from cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert "Bob" Franciose, who died in 2022. Born on January 27, 1940, in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Brigadier General / former Fall River Mayor John F. Kane and Mary (Leddy) Kane. Marilyn grew up and attended catholic schools in Fall River before attending and graduating from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. Upon college graduation, the Kane family moved to Natick, where she was a teacher at Brown Elementary School for several years. It was during a Natick Public School holiday party where she met her groom, who also taught in Natick. The two married and moved to Framingham in the late 1960s. Marilyn then taught at McCarthy Elementary School in Framingham, where she met countless lifelong friends and colleagues. She and her late sister, Barbara (Kane) Canal, taught together for decades in this same school. The Franciose and Canal couples took many vacations, cruises, and road trips together during school breaks and retirement. Marilyn and Bob both loved the Cape and built their dream home in South Dennis to utilize during school vacations with their kids and grandchildren. However, most of all, Marilyn loved being a mom. She adored her children. She loved being an aunt, a grandmother, a cousin, and a true friend. Family was of the highest importance. She loved watching the kids play every seasonal sport and would often make the trek to sit on the out-of-state sidelines for college games too. She was extremely proud of her children and her family's accomplishments in athletics, academics, and in the arts. After retiring in the mid-2000's, Marilyn and Bob moved full time into their Cape house in South Dennis, where she was near her sister and had the best neighbors anyone could ask for. Marilyn really enjoyed a good read at the beach, a swim in the ocean or pool, any type of chocolate, going to a broadway play, concert or movie, shopping for others as well as the latest fashion trend, and talking for hours to family and friends about anything and everything. She also made the best potato salad, which she'd credit to her Irish heritage. She will be greatly missed, yet fondly remembered, always. Marilyn is survived by her son and his wife, Brian and Brandee Franciosi of Foxborough, her daughter, Lynne (Franciose) Swift of Scituate, her grandsons, Bennett and Brandon Franciosi, her granddaughter, Madeleine Swift, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Gigi Franciose, her brother-in-law Robert Canal, her nieces and nephews, and too many dear friends and neighbors to list. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 8:30-10:30 AM at the Doane, Beal, & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rt. 134, South Dennis followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Dennis.
