About Marie Amoroso
Marie Amoroso, nee Tissier, 90, of Belleville, Ill., born Feb. 2, 1912 in East St. Louis, IL went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18,2002 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, IL. Mrs. Amoroso received her law degree in June 1941 from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., and was admitted to the Washington, D.C., Bar in 1943. She worked for the Justice Department in the law department for 47 years. She received numerous awards for her exemplary work at the Justice Department. She also was a recipient of the General Clark Award. She returned to Belleville, IL, in 1999 to be with her family and friends. Mrs. Amoroso was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Tom Amoroso; her parents, Louis F. and Clara, nee Metzger, Tissier; three sisters, Margaret Hayes, Kay Mulligan and Bee Lyle; and four brothers, Louis E., Al, Frank and Greg Tissier. Surviving are two sisters, Clare tissier of Fairview Heights, IL and (private) of Belleville, IL; numerous nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her dear friend, Martha Hicks. Memorials may be made to the Dammert Geriatric Center at Our Lady of the Snows Shrine, Belleville, IL or to the Charity of the donor's choice. Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL
