Margie Geneva Waddell

Margie Hedrick Waddell, 99, of Thomasville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Hinkle Hospice Home in Lexington. Margie was born November 9, 1923 in Davidson County to the late David Hedrick and Lula Kennedy Hedrick. She worked many years for Carolina Underwear, Dogwood Hosiery and Thomasville Furniture Industries. Margie was a faithful member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church until her health began to fail. She loved gardening, tending to her flowers, cooking, canning, sewing, and quilting. Her greatest joy in life was her beloved family. She loved watching and spoiling her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Thomas Waddell on December 8, 2013; five sisters; and three brothers. Surviving is her four children, John Thomas Waddell and wife Sue, Charles Edward Waddell and wife Emily, Terry Wayne Waddell and wife Marissa, Margaret Waddell Cranford; eight grandchildren, Charles Edward Waddell, Jr., Christopher Conrad Waddell and wife DeAnna, Angela Dawn Illing and husband Doug, Kristen Waddell Thompson and husband Neil, Brian McRee and wife Megan, Eric Christopher Waddell and wife Marsha, Heather Renee' Wilson and husband Chris, Alison Nicole Dowless and husband Anthony; nineteen great-grandchildren, Zachary, Whitney, Hayden, Maddox, Matthew, Russell, Wesley, Elise, Krysten, Noah, Eleanor, Aaron, Anna Claire, Hailey, Hannah, Heidi, Haven, Silas, Hope; four great-great grandchildren, Isabel, Lucas, Lenora, Palmer. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 31, 2023 at 2:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM.
