Margaret Watkins

Mrs. Margaret Halpain Watkins, 95, of Snyder, Texas died on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Brookdale Monterey in Lubbock. Services for Mrs. Watkins will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Bell Cypert Seale Funeral Home Chapel at 2 P.M. with Mr. Tommy Gressett officiating. Internment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Mrs. Watkins was born on May 8, 1928, in Wirt, Oklahoma, to John B. and Lelia (Danner) Halpain. She married LaRue Watkins on December 31, 1947, in Woodlawn, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2018. They were married 70 years. She held a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma and a Masters degree from Texas Tech. Teaching for 20 years in Snyder ISD as a Master Teacher, her love for educating children and desire to help students be successful went beyond the classroom. She had a heart for children, especially her own grandchildren. Lovingly known as "Nani," she enjoyed individual time with each grandchild and very possibly had the book, "Are You My Mother?" memorized. After retirement, she and LaRue enjoyed traveling. Margaret would read and research locations with care, sure to hit all of the popular sites in the US and Canada. She is survived by one daughter, Marla Sterling and husband Robbie, Eagle Nest, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Cody Sterling and wife Crystal, Sweetwater, Texas, Tyson Sterling and wife Carlie, Sweetwater, Texas, Paige Homen and husband Dylan, Lubbock, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Hagen and Myah Sterling, and Leighton, Harper, and Camden Homen; and Special Family Friends, Ila Ruth Newton, Snyder, Texas and Barbara Sojourner, Snyder, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lelia Halpain and 1 son, Paul Watkins. Visitation will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, from 1 PM to 2 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
