Margaret Tabor

Margaret A. (Friday) Tabor, age 88, of Montague, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 in Whitehall. She was born March 10, 1928 in Claybanks Township, Oceana County to Earl "Bud" and Esther (Rager) Friday. The family lived on a farm in Claybanks so she learned how to work as a child. As a teenager, she and her siblings attended Claybanks United Methodist Church. Margaret graduated from Montague High School in 1946 and then graduated from Muskegon Business College. Margaret married Wendell Hill and they had three children; Roger (Vicki) Hill, Sharon (Carey) Kelley and Marsha (Bryon) King; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Joyce (Bill) Griffin, Wayne and Betty Friday, Carol (John "Tom") Royalty and Laura (Ray) Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was married to Marvin Tabor of Montague for a few years. Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents, and her longtime, special friend, Dexter King. She was employed for approximately twenty years at Whitehall Leather Company in accounts payable and as a switchboard operator. She was a member of the White Lake VFW Auxiliary for over forty years and had held the offices of secretary, treasurer, and hospital chairperson. Margaret was a member of Claybanks United Methodist Church and had served as membership secretary. She also drove school bus for the migrant program. A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery on 36th Avenue south of Stony Lake Road on Monday, August 22nd, 11 am with Pastor Gary Peterson officiating. A luncheon will follow at Noon at the White Lake VFW Hall, 9370 Walsh Road in Montague.
