Margaret Mildred Dierolf

Margaret Mildred Dierolf, age 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of February 20, 2024, in Plano, Texas. Margaret was born November 24th, 1926 in De Soto, Kansas to Wilfred Roy and Ida Ellen Warsop. Margaret was the youngest of the seven Warsop children. Her youth was spent in De Soto, Kansas. Margaret attended De Soto High School where she was active in band and cheerleading. Margaret married her classmate Earl West following graduation and soon after followed him to San Diego, California. While her husband was serving in the Navy, Margaret worked at the Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego. After the conclusion of World War II, Margaret and Earl moved to Olathe, Kansas. During the 1950s Margaret served as the Clerk of the Magistrate Court in Johnson County, Kansas. Also, the 1950s saw the arrival of her three children, Terri, Brad, and Scott. The family moved from Olathe to Savannah, Missouri in the late fifties and eventually settled in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1967, Margaret accepted a position with Trans World Airlines in Kansas City. During the sixties, seventies, and eighties, Margaret used her travel privileges with TWA to take her children and grandchildren on several wonderful vacations around the world. Following retirement from TWA, Margaret and her second husband, Robert Dierolf, moved to Lakewood, New Jersey's Leisure Village retirement community. Margaret moved back to Olathe in the late 1980s and found happiness giving her time to charitable work. She volunteered at the Olathe Medical Center and St. Aidan's Episcopal Church. She also managed Poplar Court Apartments in Olathe for a time. In December of 2018, Margaret moved to Plano, Texas to be close to her son Brad and wife Lisa for her continued care. In May of 2023, she entered hospice and family care in the home of Brad and Lisa. Margaret was much loved by family, friends, and her care staff. She was spunky, funny, and always positive. She loved to visit with family and friends either in person or on the phone. She could talk for hours!   Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Wilfred and Ida Warsop. Siblings Pearl Ashlock, Ruby Pogue, Roy Warsop, Lester Warsop, Opal Ostertag and Garnet Moll. Daughter Terri (John) Stephens and son Scott West.  She is survived by her son, Brad (Lisa) West of Plano, Texas. Grandchildren Sydni (Andrew) Dittmer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joshua (Donat) Barrault-Stephens of New York, Kristen West of Kansas City, Missouri, Ashley West of Kansas City, Missouri, Kaitlyn (Stephen) Hartgrove of Denton, Texas, Kevin West and his wife Kristian of Silverdale, Washington. Great grandchildren include Ivan & Alexandra Dittmer of Colorado Springs Colorado and Holly Hartgrove of Denton, Texas. Son Scott's wife Kathy West of Platte, City, Missouri. Daughter Terri's second husband Dr. Marshall Smith of Blue Hill, Maine. Funeral services will be held on May 11, 2024, at 1:30 pm at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 14301 South Black Bob Road, Olathe, Kansas 66062. A reception will follow in the parish hall.  Burial of her ashes will follow at the De Soto Cemetery, De Soto, Kansas.
