About Maralyn Knudsen
Maralyn Lou Knudsen, 86, of Sherwood Township, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at her home under hospice care, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 1:30 P.M., with a visitation prior to the service, beginning at 11:30 A.M., at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI, 49094. Pastor Marty Burdick will officiate. Interment will follow at the Sherwood Cemetery. Maralyn was born on January 11, 1937, to Marvin and Audrey (Crandall) O'Melay, in Marshall, Michigan. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1954. Maralyn married Robert Knudsen in 1959, and they have been lifetime residents of Sherwood Township. She was a talented artist. Maralyn painted many wonderful oil paintings. She also enjoyed making floral arrangements. Maralyn and her husband Bob would showcase her floral arrangements and some of her paintings at many craft shows throughout the years. Another one of her passions was harness racing. She truly loved being a part of the races, training, and riding horses from a young age. She was an outrider at the fairs and at Jackson Harness Raceway, where she was the Parade Marshall for many years. Maralyn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert "Bob" Knudsen
