About Linda Mins

Linda Jane Mins, 72, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Emerald Nursing and Rehab in Cozad, Nebraska. She was born on May 26, 1951, in Pontiac, Illinois, to C. Harold and Dorothy Mae (Bruner) Colvin. Her family moved to Miller, South Dakota five years later. She attended Miller High School where she graduated with the class of 1969. She then went on to attend South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota where she received her bachelor's in nursing in 1973. It had always been a dream of hers to become a nurse. On November 24, 1972, Linda was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald Mins at the First United Methodist Church in Miller, South Dakota and in 1973 moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Two sons were born to this union: Jay and Garth. In 1976, the family made their home in Lexington, Nebraska where Linda held many jobs throughout the years. She worked for Excel near Darr, Tri-County Hospital, worked as a home health nurse, as well as working for Southview Manor Care Center in Cozad. She became a Director of Nursing at Westside Care Center and then eventually moved on to become a school nurse for the Lexington Public Schools where she retired in 2016. Linda was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington. Her faith helped her endure and persevere during some of the toughest moments in life. She loved to be involved in her community and demonstrate her patriotic spirit and love for her country. She was an active member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, the Lexington Area Community Choir and the Methodist Church Choir. Since her retirement, she volunteered as much as she could with Meals on Wheels and at the Dawson County Museum. Linda loved spending time with her boys, going camping out in the mountains and going fishing. Throughout her son's school years, she became a devoted sport's mom, never missing a sporting event and always cheering them on. Once her son's had families of their own, she became the devoted sport's grandmother and continued her tradition of celebrating their achievements and never missed a game.  Those left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Don; sons, 4 grandchildren, brother, sister, 2 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews as well as extended family and many friends. Besides her parents, mother and father in law, she was preceded in death by her niece, Jennifer Cotton.
