About Lillian Kovacs

Lillian (Perka) Kovacs, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, NJ with her loving family by her side. Born in Perth Amboy, Lillian grew up in Carteret, and has been a resident of Hamilton for 66 years. She is a graduate of Carteret High School, Class of 1952, and a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York. Lillian was employed by McGraw-Hill in Hightstown as an executive secretary and retired after 22 years of service. Prior to raising her children, she held secretarial positions with Curtiss-Wright and RCA Research Labs in Princeton, and Merck & Co. in Rahway. Lillian was a former member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Carteret, and a member of their Young Peoples Society, through which she met the love of her life, Bill Kovacs, of the Trenton Young Peoples Society. They were married 60 years. Lillian has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square for 59 years, where she taught Sunday School and was secretary of the Outreach Committee at the time when they were instrumental in forming The Square Knots Couples Club. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and their vacations in Florida, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially the holiday dinners. As a couple, she and her husband enjoyed spending time and caring for their grandson as a child, taking him to places, and watching his sports activities. Throughout her life, Lillian was an avid New York Yankees fan having gone to several games. Predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Alexander Perka; her husband of 60 years, William Kovacs; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and Stephen Kovacs; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Julius and Kay Kovacs; she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Cynthia Kovacs; her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Lester Dobos; her grandson, Joseph Dobos; her brother and sister-in-law, Alex and Pamela Perka of Virginia; her niece and her husband, Kathleen and Lloyd Johnson and her great-nephew, Liam Johnson all of Virginia; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Lorraine Kovacs of Florida; her nephew, Stephen Kovacs; and her nieces, Susan VonDreele and Julia Kovacs; and many loving family members and dear friends. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, June 17, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with a funeral service beginning at 11:30 a.m., at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. Entombment will follow at Princeton Memorial Park Mausoleum in Robbinsville, NJ.
