Lewis Evans

Deacon Lewis Evans 65, of Tucker, Arkansas transitioned into his Heavenly form on March 4, 2022 at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on December 28, 1956 in Sherrill, Arkansas to the late Jack Evans and the late Lizzie Kirkland Evans. He was the ninth of eleven children. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized in Horseshoe Lake in Sherrill, Arkansas, under the leadership of the late Reverend Eddie Johnson at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. On May 26,2002, Lewis was ordained as a Deacon at East Macedonia Baptist Church in England, Arkansas under the leadership of Reverend Clifton Hayes. Lewis was a dedicated Deacon at Oak Grove Central Baptist Church in Tucker, Arkansas where he faithfully served and served well. He attended elementary school at Tucker Rosenwald School in Tucker, Arkansas. He graduated from Plum Bayou-Tucker High School in 1975. Lewis was a member of the track & basketball team, class officer, and worked on the JPTA Program after school. He attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He began his working career at an early age on the McGregor's Farm in Sherrill. His former employers include; The Arkansas Department of Correction as a Security Guard & Lab Tech., UAPB Agricultural Department., AR Care in England, Jenkins Secondary School , and the owner of L & B Quick Stop. On February 8, 1982 Lewis married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Doris Bland, and remained married until his passing at which they were married for forty years. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; siblings- Arthur Evans, Grandville Evans, Odis Evans, Reverend George Evans, Elton Ray Evans and Annie Evans Gray. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and dedicated wife of forty years; Barbara Doris Bland Evans of Tucker, Arkansas; two sons- Gregory Evans of Tucker, Arkansas and Lewis (Tronika) Evans, Jr. of Sherrill, Arkansas. One daughter; Brittany Reynolds (Devon) Parker of Sherwood, Arkansas. Seven grandchildren; Marley, Kash, Legaci of Sherwood, Arkansas, Ja'Nelle and Grace of Tucker, Arkansas, Lewis "Champion" and LoveJai of Sherrill; one great-grandchild; Brukelynne of Tucker, Arkansas. One brother; Eugene (Annie Ruth) Evans of North Little Rock, Arkansas. Three sisters; Rose Evans Strickland Perkins, Princella Evans (Robert) Age both of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Dianne Evans Hill of England, Arkansas. One uncle; Abraham Carpenter, Sr. of Grady, Arkansas. One sister-in-law; Leeann Evans of Pine Bluff. A loving and caring mother-in-law; Bertha Bland of Tucker, Arkansas. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Antonio Hayes officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Church Cemetery by Paradise Funeral Home of Pine Bluff. Viewing/ Visitation will be Friday, March 11, 2022 6:30pm-7:30pm at Paradise Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
