Leo August Faber

Leo Faber was born in Leaf Valley Township, Douglas County, Minnesota, on October 3, 1912, the son of Peter and Emma (Hartman) Faber. He attended school in Urbank and grew to manhood in the Leaf Valley area. Leo worked as a farm hand in Leaf Valley Township until 1940 when he moved to Alexandria Township, until April 28, 1943 when Leo was united in marriage to Esther Krause in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of West Miltona. The couple moved to their present farm in 1946. Leo died on Sunday, July 17, 1983, at the Lakeview Care Center in Glenwood at the age of 70 years. He is survived by wife: Esther Faber of Alexandria; children: Hilda and husband Calmer Johnson; Hank and wife Tana Faber; Ray and wife Marilyn Faber and Rick Faber all of Alexandria; brothers: Nicholas Faber of Minneapolis; Alois Faber of Urbank; Peter Faber, Edward Faber, Joseph Faber of Miltona; Anthony Faber of Osakis; sisters: Della Krasaas of Alexandria; Anna Faber of Millerville; Mrs. Lawrence (Marie) Wright of New Brighton and Helen Faber of Urbank. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren. Leo was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Lori Johnson. Funeral services were Wednesday, July 20, 1983, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Minnesota with Rev. Stephen Bruening officiating. Interment was in Geneva Cemetery, Alexandria. Pallbearers were Ben Faber, Marvin Wright, David Jante, Jim Faber, Loren Krause, and Bill Faber. Honorary Pallbearers were John Pantze, Axel Carlson, Iver Anderson, Oscar Jobe, Willie Peterson and Willie Roers. Organist was Mrs. Stephen Bruening and a duet was sung by Dale and Virginia Sheldon.
