Chronicle Times: May 11, 2011: Page 2 Lawrence W. Bahr, 70, of Quimby, passed away Friday, May 6, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Funeral services are being held today at 10:30 a.m. at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby. Pastor Don Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10 a.m. at the Church today, "visitation was held Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com. Lawrence was born Nov. 5, 1940 in Cherokee County to William C. and Beulah (Glidewell) Bahr. He graduated from Quimby Consolidated School in 1959. He was married to Phyllis Elliott on Dec. 30, 1962 at Quimby. He had lived in the Quimby area all his life. He worked for Simonsen's in Quimby for a time, then worked for a hog confinement near Cherokee and also at Early. He returned to Terra Chemcial in Quimby until they closed the office. He was currently working for Hallett Materials near Cherokee and the Anthon facility. He was a member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby and enjoyed time spent with his Church family. He had been a member of the Quimby Fire Department for over 25 years. He was a charter member of the Car Club in Quimby. Lawrence was an avid collector of many things including farm toys, cars and pickups. He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, his relationship with the Fire Department family, his neighbors and especially time spent with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis and three children: Jim Bahr of Kansas City, Mo.; David Bahr of Kansas City, Mo.; Jolene Steinbarth and her husband Timothy of Lumberton, Texas; eight grandchildren; Nicole Bahr and her fiance Matthew Thomas; Matthew Steinbarth, Taylor Steinbarth, Dalton Steinbarth, Deric Bahr and his fiance April Godfrey, Brian Bahr; one brother Dennis Bahr of Cherokee; sister-inlaw and brother-in-law Mary Beermann and Ben Cline of Norwalk; special friends Trent Rupp and Kent Griemes.
