Lambert Scouten

Lambert "Stub" Scouten, age 97, of Bath, NY, formerly of Corning, NY, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 25, 2022 at the Bath VA Medical Center. Stub was born on October 15, 1924 in Corning to Bert and Eva (Tong) Scouten. He was a graduate of Corning Free Academy High School and served in the United States Army from 1943-1945 where he received a Purple Heart for his valor in service. He retired from Corning Glass Works with 41 years of service and was a Supervisor of Trades at the time. Stub served for many years as the youth director at Gibson Baptist Church. He also attended North Baptist Church, West Caton Baptist Church where he was active in their senior citizens group, and Quackenbush Baptist Church. Stub served on the Board of Directors at Corning Credit Union for many years. He loved to hunt and fish, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren lovingly referred to him as MacGyver as he could always "fix" anything for them with a little glue or electrical tape and a c clamp. Stub and Joyce wintered in Florida for 30 years where they made many lifelong friends. Stub was a member of the local American Legion and VFW and for many years supported all associated with the military. He took great pride in his time in the Army. He had a gift for writing and wrote the memoirs of his time in the service. Stub is survived by his children: Sharon (Glen) Schultz of Summerville, SC, Tim (Margaret Parvis) of Brooksville, FL, Becky (Dale Conable) Evans of Corning, and Mark (Becky) Scouten of Corning; grandchildren: Michael (Jolynda) Schultz, Teri (Bernie) Cornell, Jason Schultz, Meri (Brett) Terwilliger, Rachelle (Brian) Gattenby, Amy (Dan) Nelson, Chris (Megan) Evans, Adam (Becki) Scouten, Joshua (Jessica) Scouten, Heather (Michael) Lee, Michele (Bryan) Otto, and Michael (Jessica ) Scouten; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 75 years, Joyce, his parents, and his siblings: Watson, Nelson, Bessie and Winona. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 12th from 10 AM until Noon at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at Noon. Burial and full military honors will be in Hope Cemetery in Corning.
