About L. Griffin
L. J. was the son of Charlie Griffin, Sr. and Savannah Davis Griffin. He was educated in the Macon County School System and was a graduate of the historic Wilbur Hall AME Church Elementary School of the Garden Valley Community. After completion of school, L. J. Enlisted in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged December 7th, 1957. He was the recipient of several ribbons, commendations, and medals, including the Marksman Rifleman Award. He was employed with Mulcoa Mineral of Andersonville, Georgia and retired as a Front-End Loader. L. J. was married to Corine Harris Griffin, they were blessed with 7 children. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Clara Regina Griffin, 1 brother, Charlie H. Griffin Jr. and 4 sisters, Farrie Lee Griffin Bailey, Pauline Griffin Rucker, Mary Griffin Rucker, and Bertha B. Griffin Mathis. Services were held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 1PM in the Sanctuary of Corinth Baptist Church in the Garden Valley Community of Ideal, Georgia, with Reverend Isaiah Tookes officiating.
