L. C. Ellis

L.C. Ellis, 81, of Greenwood died Monday, March 23, 2015 at University Medical Center in Jackson. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at Immanuel Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Rev. Dennis McKay and Dr. Wayne Kimbrough will officiate. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Ellis was born May 15, 1933 to Homer and Agnes Ellis in Ruleville, MS. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he had served as deacon and taught Sunday school and for many years he taught Sunday school at Magnolia Manor. He was a member of American Legion Post #29. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology from Mississippi State University. Mr. Ellis worked for the Greenwood Post Office and later worked for the Department of Agriculture where he retired then he worked for the Leflore County Civil Defense before beginning his own business of M&S Sales. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers L.D. Ellis and Jody Ellis and his sister Sarah Sisco Keyes. Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife of over 54 years Beatrice “Bea” Ellis of Greenwood, daughter Suzy McCrimmon and husband Steve of Carrollton, son Mike Ellis and wife Wendy of Carrollton and sister Kathy Logan and husband Charles of Seminary, MS. He is also survived by nine grandchildren Rachael Ellis and fiancé Kendall Downs, Logan Ellis, Carleigh Rose McCrimmon, Lacey Sanford all of Carrollton, Stephenie McCrimmon of Datona Beach FL, Marleigh McCrimmon of Starkville, MS, Kayla Sanford of Baton Rouge, LA, Brandon Sanford and Corey Seneca both of Lafayette, LA. Pallbearers will be Mike Upchurch, Robbie Upchurch, Ronald Upchurch, Anthony Upchurch, Greg Sisco, Joe Todd Sisco, Andre Wilson, and Scott Upchurch. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Upchurch, Jerry Alford, Jr., Roger Upchurch, Kenny Logan, David Ellis, Danny Ellis, Jeremy Upchurch, Jason Upchurch, Marcus Upchurch and American Legion Post #29.
