Kara Elizabeth Kirby Ike, 33, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 10:04 a.m. Sunday, January 1, 2023, at her home. She was a former LPN with Paris Healthcare Center and Paris Community Hospital. She was born May 25, 1989, in Mattoon, Illinois, the daughter of Timothy W. and Dawn Marie (Becker) Kirby. Kara was a 2007 graduate of Paris High School and a graduate of the Lake Land College LPN program. She loved her work as an LPN, and she had a passion for caring for others suffering from dementia-related illnesses. In her spare time, Kara enjoyed volunteering for Christmas for Kids and spending time with her dear family. Survivors include her parents, Timothy and Dawn Marie Kirby of Paris; her beloved son, Carson Timothy Ike of Paris; her grandparents, Gene and Hilda Kirby of Paris and Gale and Becky Becker of Salem, Illinois; her sister and best friend, Kirsten Leigh (Jacob) Jewell of Paris; her nieces and nephews whom she adored, Jocelyn, Keegan, and Hudson Jewell of Paris; as well as several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Marion and Dale Pate. Kara was a 2007 graduate of Paris High School and a graduate of the Lake Land College LPN program. She loved her work as an LPN, and she had a passion for caring for others suffering from dementia-related illnesses. In her spare time, Kara enjoyed volunteering for Christmas for Kids and spending time with her dear family. For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to Lincolnland Hospice or to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration. Services celebrating her life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2022, at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris with Bro. Karl Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Vermilion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
