About Julia Muenkel
Julia O. Muenkel, 87, of Route 9, Chippewa Falls, town of Hallie, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1992, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. She was born April 11, 1904, in Spring Grove, Minn, to Kari (Bergsrud) and Helge Burtness. She grew up in Spring Grove and married Paul William Muenkel on Jan. 16, 1926, in Caledonia, Minn. Following their marriage, they farmed in Eitzen, Minn, until moving to Eau Claire in 1929. They moved to the town of Hallie in 1933. She was employed at the Ordnance Plant during World War II. She was a member of Pinehurst Lutheran Church. Survivors include five sons, Donald Muenkel of Osseo, Berkeley Muenkel of Portland, Ore., David (Ann) Muenkel of Boston, Mass., Paul (Diane) Muenkel of Rockford, Ill., and Brian (Mary) Muenkel of Rogers, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 26, 1974; her parents; three sisters, Helen Graham, Minerva Omoth and Thora Gilbertson; four brothers, Austin, Henry, Selmer and Lloyd Burtness; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Pinehurst Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Timothy J. Battels officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, town of Hallie. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. (Chippewa Herald Jan. 22, 1992)
