About Joy Bartley
Joy James Bartley passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2023. He was born on November 13, 1931 to Levi and Alma (Hampton) Bartley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Alma Bartley; brother, Troy Bartley and two sisters Molly Oliver and Edith Robinson. Joy is survived by his wife, Sarah Bartley; sisters, Wanda (Tony) Mazzie, Hannie Little and Dorene Hall; brother, Hurley (Ruth) Bartley; children, Junior (Kate) Bartley, Rodger Bartley and Brenda Bartley; step-children, Bill (Rita) Potter and Anne Murphy and several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Growing up, Joy was a workaholic but always made sure to save time to talk to the Lord daily. He also loved to fish and quilt in his free time. Joy was a proud veteran and served in the army as a Sargent. A funeral service to honor Joy's life will be held at the Hampton Funeral Home in Hillsdale on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 beginning at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Brent Stille officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Senior Center of Hillsdale or Litchfield Baptist church.
