About Joseph Ramírez

Joseph Ramirez left us suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the age of 78. He was known for his good humor, his love of baseball and his love of music. Joe recently had the pleasure of enjoying attendance at the new baseball stadium and the action of the Stockton Ports baseball team. Joe enjoyed performances of the Stockton Symphony and the performing Arts Center at San Joaquin Delta College. Mr. Ramirez was a lifelong resident of Stockton. He attended Fair Oaks Elementary School and graduated from Edison High School. Mr. Ramirez played both baseball and football during his school days. In his youth he served as an altar boy, along with his brother Veto, at St. Gertrude's. Mr. Ramirez served in the U.S. Army during the post World War II occupation of Germany until discharged. Upon returning home Mr. Ramirez worked as a baker's helper until his service connected disability prevented him from continuing to work. A long time resident of Villa Marche in Stockton, he will be missed by the staff and his friends there. Mr. Ramirez was born in Stockton to Juan and Maria Ramirez who have since gone on to make way for the family in the house of our Lord. Mr. Ramirez's brothers, John, Fred and Reginald and his sister, Louise went on before him to join their parents. Mr. Ramirez is survived by his brother, Robert "Veto" Ramirez, whom he always spoke of with affection and pride. Mr. Ramirez is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. in the Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Chapel, 809 N. California Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, 10:00 a.m., St. Luke's Catholic Church, 3847 N. Sutter St. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 31, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm. at the mortuary. Committal will follow the Mass at the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
