About John Stephenson
John Young Stephenson, Jr, 77, passed away at his home in Houston on October 22, 2011, of natural causes. John was born on December 14, 1933 to John Young Stephenson Sr. and Maggie Groos. He grew up in San Marcos, where he graduated from high school. He then attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering and gradating summa cum laude. He worked for Humble Oil /ExxonMobil for 30 years, mostly in Corpus Christi and Houston, retiring in 1986. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He valued honesty, discipline, and humor. John was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret Stephenson Irwin, wives Janice Gay Kimberlin and Martha Brandt Stephenson. Surviving John are his fiancé, Vivianne Hudson, of Houston, brother, Billie Joe and wife Barbara Stephenson, of Yadkinville, NC., Sons; Bradley Jay and wife Karen, John Mitchell and wife Erika, Douglas Earl, and Cory Andrew Stephenson, Daughters Sandra Gayle Almon, and Sheryl Anne Stephenson, Grandchildren Valerie Stephenson Brown and husband Oscar, Angela Michelle Stephenson, John Jay Stephenson, Trevor Reese Almon, and great grand children Kylie Ryann and Henry Oscar Brown along with many nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the Kyle Cemetery in Kyle, with the Rev. Dr. Jenna Heart officiating. Arrangements by Pennington Funeral Home, 323 N.
