About John Martinkovic
Professional Football Player. For seven seasons (1951 to 1957), he played at the defensive end position in the National Football League with the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants. Born John George Martinkovic, he attended Hamilton Catholic High School in Ohio where he made his initial impact on the football field. He went on to play on the collegiate level at Xavier University and during his years with the Musketeers, he became nationally recognized as a fierce pass rusher. Following service with the United States Navy during the Korean War, he was selected by the Washington Redskins during the 6th round of the 1951 NFL Draft. He ended up with the Packers and would go on to distinguish himself as he earned Pro-Bowl honors three consecutive years (1953 to 1955). Remarkably, he played 84 regular season games consecutively. He was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1974. He died of complications from dementia.
