John Scott Kerr

John Scott Kerr, age 71 of Campbell, NY passed away unexpectedly on Monday October 10, 2022 at Corning Hospital. John was born in Elmira, NY to Robert and Gladys Elford Kerr on May 2, 1951. He was a graduate of Corning Painted Post West High School, earned his bachelors degree from Ithaca College and earned a Masters degree at the Culinary Arts Institute near New York City. He married Joyanne I. Carpenter on June 16, 2018 in Corning, NY. John worked for over 55 years as a broadcaster in major markets such as Chicago, Boston and New York City. During his broadcasting years, he did studio drumming for many well known bands of the 1980s. He also went on tour with Europe for several years and earned a gold record for the song "The Final Countdown." For many years he was the chief executive chef at a large conference center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. John enjoyed music, boating, woodworking, or doing anything with his hands. His greatest enjoyment was cooking for friends and family. His survivors include his wife Joyanne; daughter, Ashli (Bryan) Kerr; son, John D. Kerr; step daughter Christianna (Jamie) Nichols; step son, Brian Hartman; grandchildren: Collin, Aidan, Alexandra, Victoria, Paul, Benjamin, Kade, and Annalise; sisters, Lorrie Healy and Bonnie Rochelle; brothers-in-law, David (Brenda) Carpenter and Jon (Jennifer) Carpenter; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Saturday October 15th from 1 until 4 PM where funeral services will follow at 4 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastors Ted Roloson and Steve Dunmire officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Corning, NY Memorial donations may be made to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. John's care was entrusted to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
