About John Beltramo
John B. Beltramo Jr., 86, of Hibbing, formerly of Sturgeon Township, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at his residence. He was born on January 13, 1920, at Cuneo, Italy; the son of John and Maria (Berganini) Beltramo Sr. He grew up in the Franklin location, then his family settled at the farm in Sturgeon Township. He was a proud World War II. Army Veteran, where he was a paratrooper and demolitions expert with the 82nd Airborne. He was part of the Normandy Invasion, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Crossing of the Rhine and Central Europe. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and received the Medal of Valor. He married Marjorie on May 15, 1953 in Virginia, MN. John farmed, logged and was a heavy equipment operator for Rhude and Fryberger for many years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, North American Fishing Club, Gold Prospectors of America and a life member of the Good Sam Club. Some of his many hobbies and interests were gold prospecting, fishing, gambling, lapidary collecting, making jewelry, traveling, collecting cook books, hunting, along with enjoying going to buffets. He is preceded in death by 1 son, Lawrence "Larry" Beltramo; 2 brothers, Joseph and Costonzo Beltramo; 2 sisters, Mary Finstad, and Carmella Beltramo who died in infancy. Interment will be in the Alango Township Cemetery.
