Joe Desiderio Pacheco

Joe Desiderio Pacheco, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at his home in Rio Rancho, NM, surrounded by his family. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Pacheco, mother, Eduvijen (Montoya) Pacheco Romo and step-father, Ricardo Romo. Joe is survived by his wife of 69 years, Emelina (Durán) Pacheco, son, Harry Pacheco of Phoenix, AZ, daughter, Margaret Pino and son-in-law, Julian of Las Vegas, NM, son, Ronnie Pacheco and daughter-in-law, Cecilia of Albuquerque, NM, seven grandchildren, Mary, Johnny, Bryon, Gerald, Valerie and her husband, Dominic, Jennifer and her husband, Chris and Jessica, 11 great-grandchildren, Aaron, Celina, Veronica, Ileen, Gerald Jr., Mikey, Johnny Jr., Emilina, Dominic, Noah and Chanel. Joe is also survived by two brothers, Richard Pacheco and his wife, Karen of Chandler, AZ and Roy Pacheco and his wife, Jessie of Hemet, CA and many nieces, nephews and friends. Joe was born on January 28, 1923 and raised in the small community of Rainsville, he was a lifelong resident of New Mexico having lived in the cities of Albuquerque, Las Vegas and Rio Rancho. Joe was also a lifelong Catholic and member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM. After graduating from Mora High School in 1941, he became a local farmer and bus driver in Rainsville. Joe later attended barber school in El Paso, TX and owned Hoffmantown Barbershop in Albuquerque until he retired in 1992. Joe and his wife were both from Rainsville, where they met and were married on June 17, 1946 at the Catholic church in Sapello, NM. Joe had a passion for fishing, camping and traveling. Throughout their marriage, Joe and Emelina traveled to Canada, Europe and parts of the United States. Joe loved spending time and joking with his family and friends. A rosary will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be on Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. with Father George V. Salazar as Celebrant followed by the burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rainsville, NM. His pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bryon, Johnny, Aaron, Gerald Jr., Dominic and Chris.
