About Joe Benavides
Joe B. Benavides passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday, January 23, 2011. Joe is now with our Lord. Joe was a resident of Portland for many years. He was born in Falfurrias, Texas and graduated from Falfurrias High School. In 9161 he married the love of his life Angelia Flores from Sejita, Texas. Joe was a supervisor with the City of Portland for 13 years then worked at DuPont where he later retired as a supervisor. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Rogerio & Antonia Benavides and brother Roger Benavides Jr. He is survived by his wife of 49 ' years Angelia Flores Benavides, their four children Joe Benavides Jr., Sandra (Daniel) Cantu, Ricardo 'Ricky' (Delia) Benavides, J.J. Benavides; his 9 grandchildren that were very close to him; sister Gloria B. Ramirez of Portland, Texas; his aunt Consuelo Lopez of Alice, Texas; brother-in-law Chacho (Diana) Flores of Benavides, Texas; nephews B.J. and Robert of Austin that will miss him dearly, his niece and God Child Diana Maldonado Fiveash of Austin, Texas He was a loving person who will be dearly missed by his family and friends, especially his buddies Pete and Frank. Our father was a family man who loved his children and family and enjoyed being around his grandchildren. A special thank you to all our family and friends during this time. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Portland followed by a memorial mass at 10:30 A.M. that same morning. Burial to follow at the Gregory Cemetery.
