About Joaquim DaCosta
Joaquim B. DaCosta, 94, of East Bridgewater, husband of the late Maria Pina DaCosta, died Thursday at home of natural causes. Born and educated in Brava, Cape Verde Islands, he was a son of the late Joao and Domingas DaCosta, he came to this country in 1963. He worked at Avon Sole Co. and Columbia Tanning in Brockton, retiring in 1992. Joaquim (lovingly known as Papai) enjoyed gardening, masonry, telling stories and being with his family. Joaquim (Papai) is survived by six sons, Jose Goncalves, Autilio DaCosta, George Costa, Jaime DaCosta, John DaCosta and Manuel DaCosta; six daughters, Lidia Almeida, Amelia Fortes, Domingas Penha, Deolinda Baptista, Eugenia DaCosta and Maria Tourinho; 35 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild. He was also the brother of the late Cacilda Jesus. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in First Church of the Nazarene, 89 North Pearl St., Brockton. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton.
