Jean R. Kendrick

Jean R Kendrick December 4, 1932 - June 3, 2022 Jean R Kendrick, a resident of Providence, NC passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 3rd, 2022, at the age of 89. Jean is survived in death by her siblings, Bill, Roger, Marion, Jewel, Joyce & Cathy; her children, Dianne Keen, Debra Eldridge (Robert), Sharron Dempsey (Greg), Dale Kendrick, Phillip Ricketts, Don Ricketts (Donna), Ray Kendrick, and daughters-in-law, Heddie Ricketts and Sandra Ricketts; along with 25 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren; she also leaves behind her special dog, Kisses. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Louise Dalton, husbands Jerry Ricketts and Raymond Kendrick, and sons Michael Ricketts and David Ricketts. Jean was born in Cowpens, SC on December 4th, 1932, to her loving parents, John & Louise Dalton. The oldest of 7 kids, she had to learn early on how to help manage a large household which would certainly prepare her for own family that would come. She and her first husband Jerry would go on to have 7 kids and it is often recalled that she ran a tight ship as they grew up. Whether she was cooking up a great meal to feed her small army or famously shouting "march" as she was herding them from place to place, it was always clear who the boss was! After Jerry's untimely passing and her kids grown, Jean was blessed to meet & marry Raymond Kendrick where she gained a couple of more children through marriage further expanding her family. Jean was a famously good cook! Whether it was her baked beans, a juicy pot roast, or her amazing coconut cake, you were not leaving her house hungry. She loved to shop and go on girls' trips with her daughters, and she was extremely proud of the massive (and growing) list of great and great-great grandchildren. Maw-Maw, as she was lovingly known, was also a very spiritual woman and always stayed as involved in her local church as her health would allow. If she knew you, she probably prayed for you and she wanted everyone to know about her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. After nearly 90 years on this earth, she is leaving a lasting impact on countless people, and will be missed immensely by all those who knew her. Solace can be found in the fact that she has finished her race and is now wrapped securely in the arms of Jesus. A funeral service is scheduled for 2pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Providence Baptist Church on Walters Mill Road in Providence, NC with a viewing & visitation starting at 1pm. Pastors, Mitch Cifers, and Daniel Johnson will be officiating. Burial will follow at Thompsonville Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC.
