About Janice Black
Janice Campbell Black, 82, of Catawba, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 at The Addison of Lincolnton. She was born May 5, 1940 in Catawba County to the late Paul and Gladys Buff Campbell. Janice was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church in Catawba, where she was involved with the United Methodist Women and sang in the church choir. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, many of whom she babysat from the time they were born. She loved raising exotic birds, antiquing, and working in the shack at the Balls Creek Campground. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ford Lee Black. Those left to cherish her memory are; Sons: Lee Black and wife Pamela of Claremont Todd Black and wife Leslie of Catawba Kelly Black of Ham Lake, MN Brothers: Lewis Campbell and wife Sylvia of Maiden Paul Campbell, Jr. and wife Becky of Claremont Sisters-in-Law: Juanita Sherrill of Catawba Jean Black of Catawba Grandchildren: Justin Black, Jaclyn Black, Jared Black, Jordan Black, Tyler Black, Kendyl Black, and Madison Black Great-Grandchildren: Walker Black, Bowen Black, Kane Cox, Harper Cox, and Charlotte Black Many nieces and nephews A service to celebrate Janice's life will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Pisgah United Methodist Church in Catawba. Rev. David Hawkins and Rev. Buddy Compton will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Source Citation: Bennett Funeral Service
