Janeille Joan Kenworthy

Janeille Kenworthy November 12, 1943 — September 11, 2023 Janeille Kenworthy, 79, of Atlantic, died Monday, September 11, 2023, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Janeille Joan was born on November 12, 1943, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of William Kenneth and Alice Maria Louise (Guske) Joyce. In her youth she worked for several area families and on the family dairy farm. Janeille was active in 4-H with her calves and various projects; her group earning a trip to New York City. She attended Lewis Consolidated Schools through 1960, when she transferred to Griswold due to the fire that destroyed the Lewis school. In high school she was active in sports, music, theatre and speech. Janeille graduated from Griswold High School in the Class of 1962. Following graduation, Janeille worked at Cambridge Law Firm. On August 24, 1963, she was united in marriage to Douglas Wendell Kenworthy in Lewis, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Atlantic, Charles City, and later on the Kenworthy family dairy farm in Grant. Janeille owned and operated Countryside Florist in Atlantic. Janeille was an avid quilter. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and baking. Janeille continued to share her love of music as an adult, singing and playing the piano and organ at church and school. She was a prolific reader, did much research at the Atlantic Public Library and maintained the centuries of Joyce family history. Janeille is survived by her son, Brian (Josue Flores) Kenworthy; sisters, Jacqueline (Larry) Pringle, Jolene (Robert) Corey and Judy (Robert) King; nieces, Nancy Gonzales Irwin and Kathleen Corey Doyle; nephews, Michael Gonzales and Kyle Corey; great-niece and nephews; and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Alice Joyce; husband, Douglas in August of 2003; brother-in-law, John Gonzales, Jr.; and loving and faithful Westie, Reilly. Open visitation, the family will not be present at a specific time, will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Thursday, September 21st at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Visitation with the family present will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 22nd at Roland Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial service at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Atlantic Public Library, 507 Poplar Street, Atlantic, Iowa 50022.
