About James Pharr
He was born in Lawrenceville, Virginia to James Macon Pharr, Sr. and Fannie Slate Pharr. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia McLean Pharr; four children: Steve Macon Pharr (Stacey), Virginia Pharr Soll (Terry), Elizabeth Pharr Collins (Michael) and James McLean Pharr (Margaret); and also his brother Daniel Pharr (Susan). His legacy included seven grandchildren: Joshua M. Collins, Sarah S. Flohr (Christian), Rebecca Sisler (Alex), Katherine Collins Beery (Derek), Spencer M. Pharr, Hannah Collins Parris (Zach) and Virginia Pharr (Eva) and ten great-grandchildren. Macon was a claims manager for USF&G Insurance Company at the time of his retirement. He was a lifelong Presbyterian and served as an elder and deacon in the church. He has been a member of Black Mountain Presbyterian Church for the past 14 years. He attended the University of Richmond and received a law certificate from LaSalle University. The Memorial Service for Macon was on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11am at Black Mountain Presbyterian Church.
