Obituary August 17, 2014 | Bellingham Herald, The (WA) Page: A6 | Section: Obituaries Following a year-long battle with cancer, and surrounded by family, Jim peacefully passed away at his Bellingham home. Born to Loren B. and Lucie J. Nace (nee Banks), Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jan. Jim spent much of his working life as a timber faller in Whatcom County and on the Olympic Peninsula. Jim served three years in the Washington Air National Guard as a member of the Bellingham-based 262nd Combat Communications Squadron. Prior to retirement, Jim worked in the construction industry. A lifelong outdoorsman, his passion for hunting and fishing culminated shortly before his death in a final crab fishing trip with members of his family. Visitation will take place at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, WA on Wednesday, Aug 20th from 6-9PM. A 12:30PM Thursday Aug 21st committal ceremony will take place at Saxon Cemetery on Bowman Rd. Committal will be followed by a 2PM celebration of Jim's life which will be held at the Deming Log Show, 3295 Cedarville Road Bellingham, WA. Memorials may be made to the Deming Log Show.
