About James Lisner

James John "Jim" Lisner, 93, of Batavia, Il. and formerly of Baraboo, WI, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Delnor Community Hospital. Jim was born on December 21, 1928, in Chicago, Il., the son of Charles and Ernestine (nee. Hank) Lisner. He was united in marriage to Annie Mae "Ann" Morrow on December 31, 1955, in Chicago, Il. Jim was a member of the military and served in the army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged 1953. Jim was proud of his time spent in the armed services, and during the early 1980's, Jim was elected and installed by his peers as the 39th commander of the American Legion Neer-Goudie Post #846, a title which gave him great pride. Jim was a truck driver after his honorable discharge from the from service in the early 1950's, working for such companies as Palumbo Excavating and John M. Coan Paving. Grandpa Coan could be heard regularly saying "that Jimmy Lisner is a good kid!" He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union, and would later become President of Teamsters Local 731, of which he was previously a rank-and-file member for many years. He retired from office on December 31, 1991. In his retirement, Jim's passion was restoring his vintage Dodge trucks, which he loved to take to car shows. Jim loved everything with motors, and belonged to several antique vehicle clubs, including the Harry A. Miller Club and the Badger Steam and Gas Engine Club. He enjoyed boating and snowmobiling with family and friends. He was also an antique train enthusiast. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and Miss Stephie, his loyal 4-legged companion. Jim loved being a resident of Wisconsin, and was a breakfast club regular at Denny's Diner in Lake Delton, where he would meet with the locals and solve world issues. Jim was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph's Parish in Baraboo, WI. Jim is survived by his two children, John (Nancy) Lisner and Linda Karis, his four grandchildren, Jessica Lisner, Jamie (Sean) Russell, Lauren Lisner and Allan Karis; two great grandchildren, Savannah Lisner and Jocelyn Lisner; his sister Maryann Lisner; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Annie Mae Lisner; his two brothers, Charles Lisner and Bernard Lisner; and his life-long friend, Robert 'Doc' Feehan. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on January 31, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 300 2nd St, Baraboo, WI 53913. A memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Baraboo, WI
