About James Burns
James Edward Burns, 94, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville. Born in Travelers Rest, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas Ansel Burns and Mae Bridges Burns. James was a US Army Veteran of World War II and Korea, retired from Carolina Freight Carriers where he was a truck driver and a member of Teamsters Local #28. In his early years, his home church was Locust Hill Baptist Church and later became a member of Enoree Baptist Church where he was very active in the church ministries and a member of the Ingram Willis Sunday School Class. James is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mildred Paris Burns: 2 sons: Mike (Anne) Burns of Travelers Rest and Steven (Jan) Burns of Marietta; 4 grandchildren: Matt Burns, Kristy Burns, Rhett (Shannon) Burns and Katie Burns and 6 great-grandchildren: Samuel, Andrew, Hudson, Katelyn, Rachel, and Asher Burns. Along with his parents, James was predeceased by a brother: F.M. Burns.
