James Brochtrup

James W. Brochtrup, age 86, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Monday evening, February 13, 2023 at his home. James was born on June 20, 1936, son of the late Edwin and Leona (Carney) Brochtrup. He was a graduate of Brillion High School. On November 9, 1960 he married the former Elizabeth Verhoven in Askeaton. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2000. He later married the former Rita Linsmeier on July 24, 2004 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whitelaw. James worked at the Brillion Iron Works for many years until his retirement. Survivors include his wife: Rita Brochtrup; his four children: Brenda (Don) Schultz, Jr., Brian (Rose) Brochtrup, Jerry (Tina) Brochtrup, Julie (Mark) Arft; four grandchildren: Bradley (Beckee) Schultz, Danielle (Anthony) Phillips, Elliot (Holly) Arft, Aleigha (Brad) Schreiber; eight great grandchildren: Ezra, Alexis, Ariana, Alaina, Amelia, Aurora, Ezekiel, Gideon; one brother: Kenneth (Bernice) Brochtrup; one sister: Mary Lou Thiel; his step-children: Ronald (Jean) Linsmeier, Daniel (Joan) Linsmeier, Kennard (Blanca) Linsmeier, Steven (Lee Ann) Linsmeier, Kim (Edward) Specht; along with numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. James was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Elizabeth; one daughter: Bonnie; one brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Jeanette) Brochtrup; and one brother-in-law: Ronald Thiel. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whitelaw. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial to take place at Holy Family Catholic Parish Cemetery in Brillion. The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Whitelaw, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Online condolences may be made.
