About Irene Vahey
IRENE MARY VAHEY April 11, 1925 ~ May 30, 2004 79, of Pleasanton, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004 in the comfort of her home with her seven children and sister by her side. Born April 11, 1925 in the small farming town of Joliet, MT, Irene left behind her childhood home at 18 and headed west to San Francisco after graduating from Fromberg High School in 1943. Irene is survived by her loving children: Kathy Leal of South Lake Tahoe, Julie Lesher of Pleasanton, Len Vahey of San Leandro, Bob Vahey of Castro Valley, Mary Natale of Pleasanton, Pat Vahey of Livermore and Ann Shade of San Ramon. She was a loving mother-in-law to Dave Leal, Lynn Vahey, Cheryl Vahey, Steve Natale, Gina Vahey and Jack Shade. She was the loving nana to Kristin and Megan Leal, Erin and Ryan Lesher, Andrew Vahey, Caterina and Domenic Natale, Bridget and Haley Shade, Amber Myers and Sean and Kaylyn Vahey. She was the loving sister to Judy Roberts, Laurence Wetstein, Duane Wetstein and Willis Wetstein. Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard Vahey and son-in-law, Barry Lesher. Mass, Wednesday, June 2, 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 3999 Bernal Ave., Pleasanton with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kaiser Hospice of Pleasanton. Arrangements are being handled by: Graham-Hitch Mortuary 4167 First Street Pleasanton, CA 94566 925-846-5624.
