About Ian Brown
Ian's Obituary May 7, 1981*** MARQUETTE - Funeral service for Ian H. Brown, 81, of 964 Kawbawgam Road, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to I p.m. at the church. He was born March 9, 1900 in Marquette. A graduate of Marquette High School, he attended Northern Michigan University and the University of Michigan during World War I. He had worked for the Lake Shore Engine Works, Campell Supply and was manager the Merchants Bakery. During World War Il he worked as a civilian for the US. Army Corps of Engineers in Sault Ste. Marie and Detroit. He retired in 1962 from the State of Michigan, Building Division, as a project superintendent. He and his wife, Edna, have spent summers at Lake Kawbawgam and winters in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He was a life member of the Marquette Lodge 101 Free and Accepted Masons and the First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Edna; a brother, Russell of Marquette; two sons, William of Duluth, Minn. and Ian, of Farmington Hills; two daughters, Beverly Grimshaw of Topeka, Kan. and Roberta Stockhouse of Milford; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Robert MacDonald, George Zinski, Earl Benson, Chuck Vining, Burt Watt and John Guelff Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Heart Association. Services will be conducted by Rev. Calvin Thorpe. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery. The Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
