Herbert David Earl

HERBERT DAVID EARL "Herbie'" of Keystone Heights, Florida entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Bailey Hospice Center in St. Augustine, Florida. He was 87. Mr. Earl was born in Harriman, NY on July 22, 1926 to the late Herbert Joseph and Mildred Frances (Hall) Earl. He served in The United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of The Harriman United Methodist Church, Harriman volunteer fire department, was co-founder of The Silver Fox Sportsmen Association, charter member and past commander of Mulligan-Eden American Legion Post #1573 in Harriman which was founded by his late father. He retired from Bear Mountain Interstate Park as a master plumber and heating supervisor in 1989; and has been a resident of Keystone Heights, Florida since. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian, their daughter Deborah Lee Earl, and grandson Casey James Rose. Survivors are his loving companion and caregiver of 12 years Beth Collins and her daughter Joslenaya Edwards of Keystone Heights, FL; 3 daughters Kathleen Shostak and her husband Richard of Greenville Township/Port Jervis, NY, Merrliee Franzen and her husband George, Pamela Grant and her husband Timothy both of Tucson, Arizona. Grandchildren include; Charles N Winters IV, SSgt Heidi Lynn Coleman (USAF), GySgt Christian David Shostak (USMC), Kelly Ann Montero McGuire, Jason Cory Montero, Sean David Rose, Joshua Seth Rodgers and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He loved spending time with his family, traveling; and houseboating on Lake Powell. He enjoyed time he spent in Sedona and a trip to the Grand Canyon were highlights. He grew up fishing; deep sea or just a row boat on a lake and we all loved fishing with him. He enjoyed reading, seeing exhibits and movies about World War II. He made friends wherever he went and helped people young and old. People always referred to him "as a very sweet man". He was loved greatly and will be missed. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will take place at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Cemetery of the Highlands, Route 32, Highland Mills, NY.
