Helen Louise Bales

Helen Louise Bales, age 84, of Richlands, Virginia drew her last breath here on earth on Thursday, February 24, 2022, following a brief illness. Helen was born on June 9, 1937 in Pinoak, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Edgar Harrison and Lilly Lewis Harrison. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved the Lord and was blessed with a heart for caring for others. She was a loving caregiver and had devoted 25 years as a volunteer at the Clinch Valley Medical Center. One year she was even chosen as Volunteer of the Year, which brought her great joy. She loved the Lord, and spending time with her family and her dog, Savannah. She will truly be missed by all who loved and knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jess R. Bales; and brothers, Henry Harrison and Roger Harrison. She is survived by: Her children: Steve Edward Bales and wife, Kathy of Elizabethton, TN Pam Bales Taylor and husband, Doug of Daytona, FL Mark Anthony "Tony" Bales of Richlands, VA Karen Bales of Richlands, VA Sisters: Elizabeth Honaker of Baltimore, MD Anna Mae Arms of Richlands, VA Naomi Asten of Richlands, VA Grandchildren: Brittany Bales, Ciralsky, Brett Bales, Heather Taylor Webb, Jessica Northern and Matthew Blankenship Great Grandchildren: Bryleigh Webb, Cooper Ciralsky, Jaxton Northern, and Oakley Northern. Special dog, Savannah A host of family and friends also survive. Funeral services for Helen Louise Bales will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA with the Rev. Jimmy Harman officiating. Interment will follow at Hankins cemetery in Richlands, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The Bales family will receive friends from 12-2 pm on Saturday afternoon at the funeral home.
