About Harold Nack

Son of Walter C. Nack (1892 - 1964) and Sophie I.(Ziegelmann) Nack (1897 - 1985), of the Leaf Valley Township and Garfield area. spouse: Billie (Engstrom) children: Mark, Tim, Gaylord, Terry and Lori Lived in Nelson, Douglas county, Minnesota most of his life. Obituary: Alexandria Echo Press, Feb. 10, 1999 Harold A. Nack, 78 Harold A. Nack was born September 27, 1920 in Leaf Valley Township, the son of Walter and Sophie (Ziegelmann) Nack. Harold was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school at Zion Lutheran School. As a young man Harold began working on the home farm near Osakis with his father and brother. From 1955 Harold was employed by the Nelson Cearmwry and the Bellanca Aircraft Corporation. in 1958 he began 23 years of employment with ALP (Alexandria Light and Power), retiring in 1981. Harold and Billie Engstrom were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Curch on June 24, 1951. Three sons and two daughters were born to them. Harold was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Nelson Men's Club. He enjoyed fishing and folding as a pastime. Bowling was a sport in which he excelled and won many tournaments. In 1971 he achieved the distinction of bowling a perfect "300" game. He also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and fixing things for the kids. Harold died February 3, 1999 at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria where he had been a resident the past year and a half. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving him are his wife Billie Nack of Nelson; children: Mark and wife Rose Nack of Nelson; Tim and wife Susan Nack of Nelson; Gaylord and wife Caryl Nack of Alexandria; Lori and husband Dean Kluver of Osakis; Terry and husband Michael Diedrich of Garfield; 13 Grandchildren; brother Emil and wife Elaine Nack of Osakis; two sisters: Mabel and husband Reinhold Klug of Garfield; Myrtle and husband Don Utley of Garfield; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held February 6, 1999 at Bethesda Lutheran Church with Rev. Merlin Bartelt and Rev. Russ Esterberg officiating. Barb Sather Served as organist and vocal music wa provided by Joey Kluver, Billy Kluver and Amy Nack accompanied by Caryl Nack. Harold's granddaughter Kelly Kluver was the reader. Serving as pallbearers were Justin Nack, Billy Kluver, Ryan Diedrich, Keith Nack, Richard Engstrom and Kenneth Klug. Honorary pallbearers were Kelly Kluver, Shannon Diedrich, Joey Kluver, Amy Nack, Josh Nack, Crystal Nack, Kyle Nack, Heather Nack, Ben Kluver and Derek Nack. Interment will be in the Nelson Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria.
