About Hagar Thornton
Hagar S. Thornton, 90, formerly of N. 18th St., Harrisburg, transitioned into eternal life on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born in Lloyd, FL, daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Adams) Spencer, a former employee of the Commonwealth of PA in the Departments of Revenue, Aging and Human Relations, retired from Doubleday Book Co., a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served with the Pulpit Guild, the Usher Board and Flower Club. She was the widow of Makel Thornton and in addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Willie Mae Spencer Lay; her sisters, Bertha Spencer, Luvenia White, Cornelious Ellis and Patsy Kilpatrick and her brother, William Spencer and she leaves to celebrate her life, her granddaughter, Cynthia M. Spencer of Harrisburg; her two great-grandsons, DeWayne K. Spencer (Tara) of Abingdon, MD and Ryan M. Spencer of Harrisburg; her two great-great grands, Riley Ritter and Landon Spencer; her sister, Katie S. Allen of Harrisburg and and a host of other relatives and friends. Hagar's life will be celebrated on Friday, May 25th at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of her Church, Capital and Herr Sts., with viewing 10 until 11 a.m. and burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
