H. June Stackhouse

H. June Stackhouse, 83, of North Platte, died Feb. 13, 2005, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.She was born June 25, 1921, in Minden to Nels and Alga Olsen Jensen. Her father died in 1925 and she moved with her mother and sister to a ranch south of Maxwell. Her mother remarried to Carl Vang of Maxwell and she was adopted by him. She attended country school through 8th grade, and then graduated from North Platte High School in 1940. She taught country schools for three years, and then worked at Montgomery Wards for many years.On Aug. 1, 1946, she married Marvin Clemans. He passed away Nov. 5, 1969.On June 16, 1972, she married Merle Stackhouse. In 1974, she quit work and stayed home. She loved to bake, cook, read, do puzzles and crochet.Mrs. Stackhouse was a member of the First Lutheran Church for many years, sang in the choir, and also taught the Christians of Three Class for many years. She then attended the First Baptist Church.Survivors include her husband, Merle of North Platte; two daughters, Ilene (Gary) Fatig of Cozad and Irene (Gary) Pearson of North Platte; three sons, Ellsworth (Mary) Clemans, Robert (Barbara) Stackhouse, both of California and Randy (Teresa) Stackhouse of Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Cheri Stackhouse of Omaha; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rhonda; a grandson, Jeffrey; a brother, Glen Vang; a sister, Eddy; a stepson, Roger; and a sister and brother-in-law, Helen (Rollin) Hill.Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery of Maxwell.Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel of North Platte.
