Gwenevere Corlis Foster

Gwenevere Corlis Foster was born in Roanoke, AL, on September 8, 1958, to James Huey Foster, Sr. (deceased) and Sallye Maryland Burton Foster. Gwen was outgoing, tenacious and driven. She attended Bethlehem Baptist Church and sang in the choir. Co-workers, friends and family all found Gwen to be the consummate conversationalist; offering a wealth of information on almost any subject. She was always willing to listen and assist in any way she could. She loved deeply and showed that love in her actions towards others. Gwen grew up in Titusville and graduated from Titusville High School in 1976. She attended Florida A & M University, Tallahassee, FL, on a full academic scholarship from the School of Business and Industry, and received her B.S. in Economics in June 1980. She enjoyed a successful career in finance until 1994 when she attended University of Miami, School of Law, Coral Gables, FL and earned her J.D. ( Doctor of Jurisprudence) in May 1997. She sat for the New York Bar Examination in July 1997, passed on her first attempt and was admitted to the New York Bar. As she started on her new career as an attorney, Gwen worked with several New York Firms as a Consultant until settling at Weil, Gotshals, Manges where she remained until 2016, when health issues caused her to go on disability. She also maintained her private practice throughout and was servicing clients until the end. On January 15, 2023, GOD summoned Gwen to her eternal home. Gwen was the third of five children. She was preceded in death by a brother; James Huey Foster, Jr. She is survived by a loving mother, Sallye M. Foster; siblings: Larry Taliaferro Foster (Mary), Shelia Michele Foster and Jovita Terrisa Foster; nieces and nephews: Robert Craig Foster, Edmund Drew Foster Allen Bell, Jr., Victoria Elaine Tucker, Kiera Alexis Haynes; great nieces and nephews: Marcus Taliaferro Tucker and Liberty Iyanna Lewis; sister-in-law: Alice Foster. She also leaves many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. While she will be missed, Gwen will never be forgotten. She touched numerous lives and many family, friends and acquaintances will forever cherish her memory.
