About Gregory Tackett

Gregory R. Tackett June 30, 1951 ~ December 24, 2021 (age 70) Obituary Gregory Richard Tackett, age 70, of Lake Waynoka, OH passed away Friday, December 24th, 2021. Greg was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 30th, 1951, the loving son of James and Irene Tackett. Greg graduated with a business degree from Cincinnati Technical College and worked for General Motors for 25 years. Greg loved his family with all of his heart. And if you were his friend, you were family. Greg believed you can never say "I love you" too many times...that you can say all of the things that people tend to keep in their heart, but never say out loud. He said it not because they needed to hear it (they do), but because it is the truth. His son, Jim, said Dad had a heart as big as a watermelon. Everyone loved Greg. He was someone who made you believe in yourself. He was thoughtful and sincere. A person you could look up to. And man was he funny and larger than life. The party didn't start until Greg got there. He was also the type of person you gotta mess with. If he messed with you and you gave it right back, you knew you were in. And you were in for a great friendship. Greg was always ready to laugh, cut up, and have genuine, honest conversations. He loved Andy Griffith, bass fishing, going to ball games, music, dancing around the room, and talking to the people he loved. He was a unique Union man to the hilt. His union brothers and sisters knew they could count on "Tack" to have their back. He stood up for working men and women and always told it how it was...good or bad. He was a son, brother, husband, dad, Pap-pa, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was also called Buddy, Tack, Hippie, Diddy, and much more. But no matter what we called him, we are so glad we can call him ours. Greg was preceded in death by his dad, James Clyde Tackett, and his son, James Robert Tackett, who said more than anything his dad made him feel more loved than anyone can imagine. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Meeker Funeral Home in Russellville. Burial will follow in the Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family requires face masks be worn during the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Gregory R.
