Gracie M Fager

ST. PAUL — Gracie M. Fager, 66, a lifelong St. Paul resident, died at 8:52 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2009 at her home. She had been in failing health. She was born on February 28, 1943 at St. Paul to Fred F. and Marie I. (Dent) Fager. She grew up and attended schools at St. Paul graduating from St. Paul High School in 1961. She went to work for Dr. Stephens in Parsons as a medical assistant for several years. She then attended Labette Community College where she received an Associate of Science degree in Nursing in 1972. She later received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Pittsburg State University in 1991. She worked as a Registered Nurse for several health care entities in the Parsons community including the Medical Arts Clinic for Dr. Farley, the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant Clinic, and the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center from where she retired in 2005. She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul and its Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and decorating. She enjoyed being in the company of her family the most. Gracie's survivors include her brother, Jerry Fager of the home; four sisters, Charlene Oplotnik of rural Girard, Mary Jo Bradshaw of St. Paul, Ollie Brungardt of rural Erie, and Judy Raymond of Charlotte, NC; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters; Connie Fager and Jean Ann Fager. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2009 at the St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in St. Paul. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
